Whether a patient has cancer, heart disease, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, ALS, AIDS. . . there is one thing all these diseases have in common, someone is caring for the one who is ill. Long-term care means the caregiver is busy, overwhelmed, tired and has little opportunity to realize, or reconcile, the gradual losses that take place. This takes a toll on the caregiver, the family and the patient.
