Review:
John Anderson is a genuine human being; his warmth, love and healing abilities, combine with his engineer s logic, business intelligence and just sheer Yorkshire dogged determination, that produces a potent combination reflected in this book. In a world where self-help books are espousing supposed quick fixes, were all one has to do is 're-frame' an event, or just 'think nice thoughts'; this book will be a revelation to most people who read it. It goes into much more depth about our real nature, in the context of our culture and society and offers a healing process, based upon the experience of a man, who has used it himself to deal with real traumatic events in his life; it is therefore tried and tested and will be profoundly helpful to those in need and that is all of us! --Clare Badrick, Cranial Osteopath Milford, Surrey
As a professional counsellor and one who has himself travelled, a deep healing journey from childhood trauma to freedom and joy; I am moved by John Anderson's courage and inspiring journey. John has been to hell and back and his book is a guide and balm, to help fellow travellers find their way, through their suffering and into a new life of joy, gratitude, and connection, with the Great Spirit. --Daniel Mapel, Founder of Wild Earth Animal Essences and author of Into the Wild Shenandoah Valley, Virginia, USA
The Art of Being Human is an intelligent and highly topical work that speaks to us all about our individual quests for knowing and the elusive inner peace we all crave. It is not only a fascinating account of the state of the world and spirituality today, but it includes a totally unique and exciting tool, to deal directly with emotional trauma of any degree and potentially be free of its confines. This is a book that every being should read, if we seek to become the highest expression of our human selves. --Sally King, Writer and Fulfillment Coach Sheepscombe, Gloucestershire

About the Author:
John Anderson describes himself as an ordinary working class man from Yorkshire, England, who has had an extraordinary life, crippled by terror and trepidation and an inspiring healing journey that has brought him to wholeness. As a child he was subjected to severe physical, emotional and sexual abuse and suffered three near-death-experiences before he was ten years old; the abuse was denied, John was given no support and he had to deal with his pain by shutting it away. Driven on by fear and foreboding, he grew up to become a self-possessed, over-achieving engineer and then successful business man, in the world of Information Technology, although he continued to be plagued with the manifestations of his unacknowledged past. After suffering two mental breakdowns, he was eventually diagnosed with post-traumatic-stress-disorder, as a result of his childhood abuse, with the prognosis that he would never return to full health. Subsequent to marrying quite young, John s wife produced a baby boy Simon, who after a very difficult birth process, eventually developed learning difficulties and intractable epilepsy. Simon, now known as Scott, was involved in a serious car accident in 2000 when he almost died, which reactivated John s condition and plummeted them both into their own private nightmare. The story and resulting vision of John s journey to hell and back, and how he transformed his traumas and produced a path to peace, are contained within his first book: The Art of Being Human. The resulting process has taken him from being an aggressive, arrogant and acquisitive individual, trying to deny his fears and run away from his pain, into a man who is determined to embrace and accept every aspect of his being and that of others, through forgiveness, love and understanding.
