"ENT Clinics" is a book for all medical personnel involved in the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) field, as well as GP's. This book gives specialist information on all of the most prevalent diseases in ENT in a way that students and training specialists alike can understand. This book is split into five main sections; the first section gives detailed information on all the most prevalent diseases involving the Ear, the second section gives intimate knowledge on diseases of the Nose while the third section is about diseases of the Throat. The forth section is where the author has written about the most common ailments of the different systems (such as neurological diseases, vascular diseases and even drugs) and how they can present themselves in the ear, nose or throat. This section is a very valuable and unique section as it allows the reader to expand their ideas and allow them to understand how issues with other systems within the body can have an effect on the ear, nose and/or throat. Only "ENT Clinics" provides readers with so much useful and understandable information that they may be able to analyse and understand all aspects of a disease including, the fifth section is based on the authors own research conducted on one of the most prevalent diseases affecting ENT. Rhinitis is the most common ENT ailment affecting quality of life however it always goes undetected and only when it becomes a severe problem is it then identified. The author initially carried out a survey in the adult population to find its current prevalence (a full analysis is available in the book), these results were analysed, from which interesting conclusions were drawn about the true prevalence of this disease and how it really affects the quality of life of its sufferers. Following the success of this research, this was continued in the younger population (aimed at secondary school children). The questionnaire was modified to find the prevalence of Rhinitis in younger children and how it affects their quality of life. Again the results were analysed and fascinating conclusions were drawn from it (all explained in this book). Also in this book a preview of both questionnaires are available. These questionnaires are accessible on request, details to order them are found in the book.In this book, each disease is explained in a standard form so that it is as easy to understand as possible. Initially there is a brief overview of each disease followed by the causes of the disease as well as its symptoms. There is also an 'Investigations' section which informs the reader of the different scans and tests that can be done in order to ensure that there is correct diagnosis of the disease. The treatment section is next where all the aspects of the various treatment methods are explained. The most effective treatment methods are highlighted to ensure the most beneficial treatment to the patient. After these standardised sections, the author has added in an 'Essentials Facts(c)' section, which explains the differential diagnosis of the disease along with specific information about that particular ailment. The facts included in this section have only been gained through many years worth of experience, this type of knowledge cannot be gained in any other way except through this one of a kind book. "ENT Clinics" has been written with the experience and knowledge gained over twenty years of work in the Ear, Nose and Throat Clinics all over the UK. The author is currently working in Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital (more details about the author can be found in the 'Author's Biography' section).
