My aims in writing this book and it's content.
Wetheriggs (or Schofield's) Pottery has managed to survive when most other country potteries failed with the advent of industrialisation. My aim in writing this book was to record its transition from a locally based, brownware pottery to one which made "Art Wares" for a growing tourist market in the early part of the 20th century. The 104 page book consists of a history of the site and the Schofield family with 34 black and white illustrations followed by a catalogue of 197 pieces of their wares illustrated in colour. These Art Wares were distributed throughout the country and can be found in almost any town in the UK.
