Labi Siffre is an English poet, musician, songwriter & singer. His 1st book, "Nigger", published in `93, his 2nd, "Blood on the Page" in `95 & his 3rd, "Monument", in `97.
His work has been compared to William Blake's "Songs of innocence and Experience" & described as "compassionate and often succinct and aphoristic", "multi-layered, often challenging their own apparent stereotypes and preconceptions".
Musically, Siffre is best known as the writer & singer of "(Something Inside) So Strong", "It Must Be Love" & "I Got The ..." His music sampled to successful use by the likes of, Jay-Z who used Siffre's "I Got The ..." for "Streets Iz Watching" & the rhythm track with Siffre on electric piano is the basis of Eminem's "My Name Is". Siffre's music & voice were sampled by Kanye West for "I Wonder" & Fat Boy Slim & Wu Tang Clan have also used his work.
