Blue cloth covered boards with bright gilt titling to the spine, the boards have a slight 'mottled/rubbed/dusty' appearance but I think that may be the type of cloth? . In the original publisher's pictorial dustjacket which is a little creased at the top edges and has a small 'nick' with loss (1. 5 cm long by 0.2 cm deep) just at the very top of the spine/ inner edge of the front d/j cover. The base colour of the spine is VERY Slightly faded (so slight you'd hardly notice) but all lettering, etc, is very clear and bright. The d/j is NOT Price Clipped. Blue line-Illustrated e/p's. Jacket design by Hilary Jones. Colour frontispiece. (xiv) + 245 pp. Illustrated in b/w, with 2 Fold out plans. Clean pages/page fore-edges and Internally NO Inscriptions or Marks. Apart from the Author's signature on the Title page this is Overall a Very Clean, Tight and Bright copy. " The Life of a Tudor merchant who died in1537 leaving a bequest of 12000 ducats "to provide Dowries for Orphan Maidens". The bequest was used in the 19th century to found Llandaff School (in1860). The book covers the early history of the school up to1890, but this is more than just a school history it is a valuable documenting of mid nineteenth Century boarding schools for girls.
