About the Author

PETER COOLEY was born in Detroit and grew up there, and in the suburbs of the city. He graduated from Shimer College, The University of Chicago, and the University of Iowa. He lives in New Orleans, where he is a professor of English at Tulane University. In 1981, he was the Robert Frost Fellow at the Breadloaf Writers Conference. His books include The Company of Strangers, which recently been reissued by Coyne & Chenoweth, and The Room Where Summer Ends, Nightseasons, and The Van Gogh Notebook, all of which were published by Carnegie Mellon University Press.
