Book Description Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Signed and dedicated on the title page by Michael King and dated Sept 1983. These signed hardcovers don't come around too often and are a real collectors item given that King's life was cut short in a car accident in 2004. A very clean copy with just the usual dulling to the red writing on the jacket spine. Michael King (1945-2004) presents a comprehensive and searching documentary of Maori culture and society, and Maori-Pakeha contact, conflict and co-operation. From the earliest daguerreotype around 1852 to the strong protest images of the 1990s, King records and analyses changes and upheaval in the commentary that is always intelligent and objective. This book leaves the reader with not only a better understanding of the past but a challenge for the future. Signed by Author(s). Seller Inventory # 036740
