Book Description Frank Graham, 1979. Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good +. John Turnbull Dixon (illustrator). First Thus. This is the 1979 facsimile edition of the work originally published by Robert Redpath in 1895 entitled 'Whittingham Vale, Northumberland: its history, traditions and folk lore.' Red boards with crisp corners and an almost fine page block. Gilt lettering on the spine. Apart from one tiny spot on the front endpaper the book internally is in fine condition. The dustwrapper shows very slight creasing along the top and bottom of the spine and a hint of browning along the top edge of the whole wrapper. The author brings in the history of the ordinary people of the area, not concentrating simply on the places and personalities of history, making this a charming, very detailed example of local historical writing.
