Queries range from tips on natural birth control and vitamin intake to questions on plastic Surgery--and dieting, naturally!
Weil believes in the body's ability to heal itself and promotes a low fat, low protein diet with regular exercise. Nothing new there, but he also considers herbal remedies and advocates a cocktail of vitamins and mineral supplements, which will help the body to achieve optimum health. The book is clearly aimed at the American market, but an effort has been made to include information about the situation in the United Kingdom in many, but not all, of the answers featured.
Weil addresses the topics positively and the replies are practical and include a good deal of common sense. There is a particularly interesting--and controversial--section on under-arm deodorant contributing to breast cancer. And although he concedes he is unaware of any research on this subject, he believes there is sufficient doubt to refrain from using it.
The book would be a good choice for anyone interested in alternative remedies but with limited reading time on their hands. An excellent index enables the reader to look up the relevant topic easily and the book is relatively jargon-free. --Carole Butterworth
