Synopsis

During the ferocious Normandy campaign of World War Two, 20-year-old Christopher Portway was taken prisoner, transported to Silesia and forced to work as a slave in a Polish coalmine. About the Author

Christopher Portway was born in Halstead, Essex and served with the Territorial Army for 17 years, for which he was awarded a Territorial Decoration. He is a well-established travel-writer, who has been awarded the Winston Churchill Award for Biography and Travel, and who has published numerous books and articles.
