Eight and a half million viewers watched the Are You Being Served? on BBC 1 on Saturday nights when it was rescreened in Spring/Summer 1998, in the silver jubilee year of the series first transmission. Sky Gold is continually re-running episodes and in the US it is one of the most popular cable TV programmes on the West Coast. Are You Being Served? is not only a TV classic it is also a cult. The book reviews the history of programme including how the original idea was developed. About the Author
Richard Webber is one of Britain's the foremost show business journalists. He contributes regularly to a whole host of newspapers and magazines from The Independent to The Mirror, Hello to Radio Times, My Weekly Bella. He has written two previous books. David Croft's TV series include: Dad's Army, It Ain't Half Hot Mum, Hi-De-Hi, You Rang M'Lord and Oh Doctor Beeching. Jeremy Lloyd is an actor and writer. As a writer he created the best-selling Captain Beaky books and co-wrote Allo Allo with David Croft.
