Would you marry your best friend or your first love? Suzy has to choose, and, after twenty-five years of bringing up two much-loved daughters, finds herself re-visiting her decision when she loses a precious necklace in a burglary. This isn't a crime book, but a story that is touched by crime (or the fear of crime) the way all our lives are. Suzy's fears after the burglary are worse than losing the necklace - she loses her sense of security and her faith in her home, and this puts pressure on her relationship with her husband. But one good thing about life being turned upside down is that you often get second chances. Suzy has to decide whether she's been too reluctant to take risks in the past - and whether she's brave enough now to change her life without losing everything. Originally I wanted to call this Love And Money, because if you've got different attitudes to practical things like mortgages, insurance, burglaries and overdrafts, then it's harder for love! to survive, but we thought it would seem too glitzy. Suzy's friends drink alot of champagne, live in lovely houses and have alot of fun, but in spite of the diamond necklace, it's not a novel about glitz. So, as losing the necklace was the turning point in her life, we named The Daisy Chain after that. I hope you enjoy it. Alexandra Campbell
