Aimed at seven-year-olds and above, this book has taken an interesting twist on ten traditional Bible stories, with a retelling from the perspective of female characters - Mother Noah, Rachel, Miriam, Ruth, Mary of Nazareth, Martha and Mary, the Caananite Woman, Lady Procula (the wife of Pilate), Mary of Magdala and Lydia. McAllister skilfully explains the circumstances of each character in clear concise language that will be easily understood by children. Whilst the publishers believe this book is aimed at girls, it is clearly a volume designed to deepen understanding of the Bible and the very human behaviour and attitudes of some of its most prolific and celebrated women. Bright illustrations will hold the attention of young readers and the stories are short (but not too short) and written in language that will captivate both minds and hearts.     About the Author
Margaret McAllister grew up in the northeast of England and has enjoyed success with leading publishers as a writer of historical and fantasy fiction. The first of her Mistmantle Chronicles, Urchin of the Riding Stars, was shortlisted for the Ottaker’s Children’s Book prize.
 
About the Illustrator
Alida Massari’s beautiful illustrations have won her many awards. She was born in Rome, where she grew up surrounded by art, and studied Illustration at the European Institute of Design.
