PreSchool-Grade 1 Each board book in this series recounts a simple adventure of Titus Bear in a particular season. Titus is a chubby dark brown Teddy bear who inhabits a cheerful world reminiscent of children's television cartoons. What is puzzling about the stories is Titus' age. He lives by himself, does his own shopping and home repairs, but plays on a swing and rides a scooter. In the fall episode he picks fruit and bakes a pie, then settles down to do his homework. In winter he goes sledding with his friends. In summer he camps. Is he a miniature adult or a precocious child? The books are sturdy and colorful, but with the number of fine board books available from authors/illustrators such as Rosemary Wells and Helen Oxenbury, this set can be bypassed.
