The fifth edition of this work on fluid mechanics has been revised to include more illustrations and problems. Features of this edition include an emphasis on physical aspects of fluid behaviour; coverage of the derivation and analysis of equations; an analysis of pressure distributions in fluids with specified acceleration which develops the concept in the same framework as hydrostatic pressure variations; a development of uniform flow solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations; and derivation of the logarithmic velocity profile which provides an example of a turbulent uniform flow analysis.
