Dizzy debutante, teenage divorcee, intelligence agent, film producer - Robin Dalton has played all these roles and more in her extraordinary life. She tells her story with dash and vigour in this long-awaited sequel to her classic Australian memoir of her family, Aunts Up the Cross. From charmed childhood and wartime youth in Sydney, Robin Dalton escapes to post-war Europe in all its hedonistic optimism. Plunging into a new life, she meets an astonishing array of writers, actors, painters, princes and paupers, kings and presidents, spies and lovers. These encounters with many of the people who were to shape the political and cultural landscape of our times are entertaining and often revealing. The book describes a life of adventures large and small, happy coincidences, tragedy and laughter - and a Kings Cross fortune-teller's prophecy come strangely true. Robin Dalton (née Eakin) was born in Sydney, New South Wales, and has lived in London since 1946. She has enjoyed a varied professional life, ranging from writer to television performer to a 5-year stint as an intelligence agent - more commonly known as spy - for the Thai government. In 1963, she became a literary agent, representing some of the world's most distinguished writers, and film and theatre directors. About 20 years later, she started a new career as a film producer; her credits include "Country Life", "Madam Souzatska" and, most recently, "Oscar and Lucinda". Over 30 years after her first memoir, Aunts Up the Cross, Robin Dalton has written this sequel.
