About the Author:

Margaret Mahy qualified as a librarian and has had various appointments in children's libraries. She still visits schools and libraries and is apt to don a green wig - she describes herself as "a bit of an exhibitionist". Her books have been published in many languages and are very popular. She has won the Carnegie Medal twice for THE HAUNTING and THE CHANGEOVER, and the New Zealand Esther Glen Award four times. Margaret was born in New Zealand and still lives there.
