Dirk Jacobus Botes was born in 1940 the Western Cape, South Africa. He moved to the Northern Transvaal and started his hunting career in 1968. Botes served as board Chairman of the Bushveld Hunters and Game Convervation Association and Secretary of The Confederation of Hunting Associations of South Africa for many years. He lives in Pretoria, South Africa.
Pieter Lourens Smit was educated at an agricultural training college and was a South African big game hunter. He was a founder member of the Bushveld Hunters and Game Conservation Association in 1969. In 1978 he became a taxidermist and played an integral part in the training of junior hunters. He was instrumental in the development of a new measuring system for the South Arican Record Book and was awarded the Musgrave Award in 1969.He was a member of various professional taxidermist associations and an official member of both Rowland Ward and SCI. He died in 2005.
