Born in Dublin in 1969, Emma Donoghue studied at University College and Cambridge, where she now lives. She has had numerous plays and short stories published. Her women's poetry anthology WHAT SAPPHO WOULD HAVE SAID was published by Hamish Hamiltonin 1997.
Emma Donoghue's other novels with Penguin are STIR FRY (1994) and HOOD (1995) which went on to win the 1997 American Library Association Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Book Award for Literature.
