Synopsis
When Robert Adams sees the statue of the Sun Singer in a lonely meadow he hears the song of the sun and receives the gift of prophecy. He excels as the Soothsayer of West Wood Street until a psychic dream graphically foretells the death of his best friend’s sister Julianne.
Robert blames himself for a tragedy he cannot prevent and shoves his bright talent into the dark shadows of the future where, he suspects, it will one day save him or kill him.
After blindly vowing to finish a task for his ailing grandfather, Robert steps through a hidden doorway into a world at war where magic runs deeper than the mountain rivers. Now he must resurrect his dangerous gift to fulfill his promise, uncover the true secret of Julianne’s death, undo the deeds of his grandfather’s foul betrayer, subdue brutal enemy soldiers in battle, and survive the trip home.

The Sun Singer focuses on the personal transformation of main character Robert Adams in a world similar to our own, using magical techniques slightly more advanced than those described in new age books. All ages will relate and connect to the portrayal of the vulnerable, but heroic human spirit.
The Sun Singer is the natural outgrowth of my lifetime interest in the mythological hero path. I've wrestled with some of the same issues that confront my main character, views life as a quest. We discover—as Robert discovers in the novel—that throughout our triumphs and trials we are searching for ourselves.
The Sun Singer offers climactic encounters in a forbidden mountain world. Years ago, protagonist Robert Adams visited the statue of the Sun Singer, received the gift of prophecy and enjoyed fame as the Soothsayer of West Wood Street until a cruel tragedy convinced him his psychic dreams were more of a curse than a blessing. Now, as he begins a personal quest to complete an ailing grandfather’s unfinished mission, he must resurrect his dangerous talent to uncover family secrets, triumph in battle, fulfill his promises, and survive the trip home.
While The Sun Singer plays out against the backdrop of a world at war, this conflict as secondary to the protagonist’s decision to place himself at risk in the service of others while fine-tuning his beliefs about time, dreams, and reality.
About the Author
Malcolm R. Campbell is the author of the comedy/satire Jock Stewart and the Missing Sea of Fire and the contemporary fantasy trilogy “The Garden of Heaven.” He is also the author of paranormal short stories and folktales. Campbell, who lives in Georgia with his wife Lesa and their three cats, previously worked as a technical writer and a corporate communications director. He has been active in environmental, historic preservation and museum volunteer work.
