Synopsis

This volume contains the proceedings of a conference held in Sodankyla, Lapland in August 1988, which explored the three related fields of function spaces, singular boundary value problems and nonlinear questions. The section on function spaces has been divided into two groups, the first of which highlights questions on analytic function theory. The latter section on function spaces examines such topics as atomic decomposition, continuity of pseudodifferential operators, interpolation and certain functional inequalities of many different function spaces. Boundary value problems for non-smooth boundaries for both differential and pseudodifferential operators are examined, and their mathematical theory on singular manifolds described. The final section of the book deals with nonlinear concepts including monotone operators, degree theoretic approach, equations of Ambrosetti-Prodi type and the use of weighted Sobolev spaces in nonlinear boundary value problems. Also, topics from nonlinear potential theory are included as well as applications to carrier transport equations for semiconductor.
