One Tuesday in May, the lives of Blair Albert and Bunny Marie Heath were to change course forever. Recently separated in a pioneering and desperately risky operation (the boys were conjoined anteriorly at the trunk), and with four weeks leave in London to acclimatise, the Heaths were suddenly at large for the first time in their lives. Meanwhile, with the death of a patriarch in a barren, war-torn corner of Russia's northern Caucases, Ludmila Ivanova Derev is sent out into the world to save her family from penury and starvation. Escaping on a tractor to the nearest town of any significance, she finds herself pictured on a local website advertising Russian brides to the West. A wild and raucous picaresque soaked-through with the flavours of British bacon and nasty Russian vodka, "Ludmila's Broken English" is a story of love, sex, death and tangoing twins on a mission into the unknown.

Review:
Front page review: As impossible to predict as it is to put down....It's as if when you open the covers Pierre's cartoonish figures bubble up to act out dramas in some alternate dimension.

Pierre's sensuous, often vitriolic language suits a story that, while not for the fainthearted, is viciously funny and sad.

Pierre's prose is so exuberant it nearly bounces off the page....Proves Pierre is definitely more than a one-hit wonder.
Book Description:

Ludmila's Broken English by DBC Pierre:

On a Tuesday in terror-struck London, Blair and Bunny Heath became the first adult conjoined twins ever successfully separated.

On a Tuesday in the war-torn Caucasus, Ludmila Derev killed her grandfather.

By the 11th of December, they had something very much in common.

Enter a snakes-and-ladders world of liberal and conservative high jinks in this dark tale of desire, bullets, globalisation, and the full English breakfast.
