Book Description Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Signed and dated by Christopher Logue on the title page, the first Faber paperback edition (1992) of Logue's famously vigorous and exciting version of Books 1 and 2 of Homer's Iliad. Includes a wittily short introduction by Logue ("And last, though he is not speaking to me at the moment (and is therefore responsible for all that is wrong with what follows) Professor Donald Carne-Ross of Boston University"), a Prologue, nearly 80 pages of poetry and a useful guide to the pronunciation of names. The book itself is in very good condition, with no markings to the text except for Logue's signature and dating, still tightly bound. The pages are browned, owing to the quality of paper originally used, otherwise there are only some minor marks of shelfwear and handling such as some dust spotting along the top edge of the pages when viewed as block. Acclaimed by Gary Wills as "the best translation of Homer since Pope's. In fact, on its own partial scale, it is as good as the very best English version, Chapman's." That is George Chapman, a scarce selection of whose Plays and Poems (Penguin, 1998) we are also selling. Signed by Author(s). Seller Inventory # 1025
