W. S. Graham was born in Greenock in 1918 and lived most of his adult life in Cornwall. His first book of poems, Cage Without Grievance, was published in 1942, and his original Collected Poems in 1979. Two further books, Uncollected Poems (1990) and Aimed at Nobody (1993), were published after his death in 1986.
