About the Author:
R W B Lewis, a Professor of English and American Studies and former Master of Calhoun College at Yale, is a distinguished author and prolific writer in modern literature. His biography of Edith Wharton won the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Critics Circle Award and the Bancroft Prize. He is also the author of The American Adam, The Picaresque Saint and The Jameses: a Family Narrative. He co-authoried with Nancy Lewis The Letters of Edith Wharton. A graduate of Harvard and Chicago, he is the recipient of honorary degrees from Wesleyan University and St Lawrence College, and of numerous fellowship awards.
