Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book investigates the lacunae in the Codex Regius, a manuscript containing the Poetic Edda, an anthology of Old Norse poems. The author compares the missing portion, estimated to include 34 lines, to related sagas and reconstructs the likely content of the lost verses. The study focuses on the relationship between the epic poems and the prose narratives, exploring how the author of the Volsunga saga, a later compilation, utilized and adapted the material from the Poetic Edda. The book contributes to our understanding of the development of the Sigurd legend and its transmission through different literary genres.
