∗ This book is a tutorial on digital techniques for waveform generation, digital filters, and digital signal processing tools and techniques
∗ The typical chapter begins with some theoretical material followed by working examples and experiments using the TMS320C6713–based DSPStarter Kit (DSK)
∗ The C6713 DSK is TI′s newest signal processor based on the C6x processor (replacing the C6711 DSK)

Understanding digital signal processors made easy through programming examples and project application
This text enables students of electrical and computer engineering to grasp and apply the principles of digital signal processing (DSP) through real–time implementation of experiments and projects. The author, internationally respected for his DSP courses, seminars, and textbooks, presents easy–to–follow theoretical discussion that is immediately followed by representative examples using Texas Instruments′ TMS320C6713–based DSP Starter Kit (DSK). Examples using the C6416 DSK are included in Appendix I. In total, one hundred and four programming examples are provided most using C code, but some using assembly code that demonstrate how the TMS320C6x processor is used in applications such as communications, controls, and speech processing. The final chapter of the text provides readers with twenty–two projects on which they can expand.
The tools needed to facilitate quick learning and enable readers to implement experiments and projects are included, such as:
Using a skillful combination of theory, examples, assignments, and projects, the author is able to make even such difficult topics as adaptive filtering accessible and understandable to undergraduate and graduate students alike. Moreover, practicing engineers will find this text to be a useful tutorial and reference.
RULPH CHASSAING, PhD, teaches Real–Time DSP at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). In addition to offering many DSP training workshops and seminars, he has authored four other books: DSP Applications Using C and the TMS320C6x DSK, Digital Signal Processing: Laboratory Experiments Using C and the TMS320C31 DSK, Digital Signal Processing with C and the TMS320C30, and Digital Signal Processing with the TMS320C25, all published by Wiley.
