Undergraduate students in Psychology often experience difficulties writing papers, particularly research reports. Writing in Psychology: A Student Guide, Second Edition, has been written to help students overcome these difficulties. It includes advice on:
  • preparing and writing essays and research reports
  • using references and quotations
  • preparing figures and tables
  • the fundamental aspects of writing and presentation
  • using electronic databases, word processing and graphics.
The emphasis is on explaining the conventions, concepts and principles involved in preparing and writing papers. This second edition also includes examples of a good report and a bad report to reinforce students’ understanding of the principles of report writing. The style followed is consistent with that of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, Fourth Edition.
About the Author:
T. Raymond Smyth, MA, PhD, has wide experience in teaching Psychology at undergraduate level. He has held academic appointments at Flinders University and the University of Adelaide, and has also taught at the University of South Australia,. He is presently a lecturer at Charles Sturt University –– Riverina in New South Wales. Raymond Smyth has also published articles in various academic journals.
