This is an updated history of the Israel intelligence agencies, originally published as "The Imperfect Spies". It covers the Mossad, responsible for foreign operations, Aman, the intelligence-gathering arm of the military, and Shin Bet, the agency in charge of internal security and comparable with America's FBI. The book also offers evidence of the existence of two additional agencies and Israel's development of a new weapons system. It discusses the threat of the use of chemical, biological and nuclear weapons in the Middle East, and provides insights into the great exploits of Israeli intelligence, such as the Eichmann capture, the Entebbe rescue and the raid on the Iraqi nuclear reactor. Also studied is the complex web of politics and personal ambition that led to such disasters as the Pollard affair and the violence in the West Bank.
