Praise for Henry Miller:
‘American literature begins and ends with the meaning of what Miller has done.’ Lawrence Durrell
‘I regard Henry Miller as a master.’ Colin MacInnes
Praise for ‘Sexus’:
‘A huge, sprawling narrative of Miller's life in New York, “Sexus” culminates in a description of an orgy as remarkable for its account of the author's powers of sexual endurance as for its versatility. Interspersed are descriptions of his friends, some of them extremely funny and all of them lively. The lack of inhibition and genteel or moral restraint with which Miller describes these various characters gives “Sexus” a unique vitality. Miler cannot be pompous, a rare virtue, and his honesty is absolute.’ Spectator
Henry Miller was born in Brooklyn, New York. He had a variety of jobs as a young man, including several years working for the Western Union Telegraph Company. During this time, encouraged by June Mansfield Smith, the second of his five wives, Miller began to write. Aside from articles, stories for pulp magazines and prose poems, Miller worked on his first novels ‘Crazy Cock’ and ‘Moloch’, and on the copious notes which would eventually transmute into the notorious ‘Tropics’ books.

Book Description Paperback. Condition: Good. "Plexus is the core volume in The Rosy Crucifixion: the volume which has th e most complete description of Henry Miller's basic values, beliefs, opinio ns, judgments, both at the time of his "Crucifixion" and at the later time when the trilogy was written. Plexus is simply the most marvelous volume of emotion and ideas and visions and nightmares about man and society in the twentieth century-with art as the link perhaps, or as the soul's refuge-t hat I have read in many a long year. There is absolutely no subject in the world that Henry Miller does not seem to know about, want to talk about, an d to evaluate with the deep authority of wisdom. He is probably the most le arned of all our American writers, the most open to ideas and feelings, and yes, the most worshipful of all the aspects of life, as well as the most c ritical literary spokesman of our time." -Maxwell Geismar.
