THE FINAL CONFRONTATION IS AT HAND
Outside the great stone Keep of Renweth, the night is the domain of the evil and monstrous Dark. Inside, the survivors of the once-great Realm of Darwath shelter, squabble and fight for power. The Chancellor Alwir plans to use the wizard Ingold Inglorion and his disciple Rudy Solis in a desperate attack on the Nests of the Dark. Bishop Govannin, obsessed by a fanatical fury, seeks to destroy all magic by murdering the wizards.
No one in this climate of ambition, hatred and fear will heed Gil Patterson’s discovery of the truth behind the rising of the Dark – no one except the wizard Ingold. And once the truth is known can he survive the final battle?
“The entire trilogy hangs together with a singular vision. Hambly is a shining example of what can be done with the motifs and wonders that endear this genre to those of us who still seek a touch of magic in our reading.”
CHARLES DE LINT
“A writer of unusual proficiency.”
