This is part of an English programme which places emphasis on basic skills support for special needs pupils who are working at levels two to four of the National Curriculum Key Stage 3. Progression is built into each unit, between each book and across the course as a whole. The book provides material for a full year's work divided into six half-termly units and the three books arranged across three years establish, revisit and consolidate key skills. The units cover the full range of curriculum requirements and work on basic skills is embedded in the context of purposeful reading, writing, speaking and listening activities and additional language-specific units. Full access is provided to suitable pre-20th century and contemporary literary and non-literary texts.
