The official publication of the Air & Surface Transport Nurses Association, this comprehensive and timely text is the standard reference for flight nurses and health professionals in training for or practicing medical transportation. The new name of the organization emphasizes the role and presence of, not only flight or air nurses, but also that of surface transport nurses. Each unit provides an up-dated, collaborative focus emphasizing the role of all team members. Clinical chapters consistently cover epidemiology, anatomy and physiology and/or pathophysiology, and specific conditions with notes for assessment and treatment. This revision includes two new units and nine new chapters. The book begins with a new unit on the history and current role of air and ground transport nurses and includes chapters on the History of Patient Transport, Preparation for Practice, Certification, Members of the Transport Team, and Research and Quality Management. The new unit on Patient Care Issues includes three new chapters that cover legal, ethical and family issues. The Management unit features a new chapter on Accreditation for Air and Ground Medical Transport.
