About the Author
Born Herbert George Wells in Kent in 1866, H. G. Wells was an outspoken socialist and pacifist, whose works caused some controversy. He is more widely known as a science fiction writer for the novels that he published between 1895 and 1901: The Time Machine, The Island of Doctor Moreau, The Invisible Man, The War of the Worlds, When the Sleeper Wakes and The First Men in the Moon. All, except for When the Sleeper Wakes, have been made into films. Along with Jules Verne, H. G. Wells is also known as 'the Father of Science Fiction'. His later novels were more realistic and he wrote many genres, including contemporary novels, history and social commentary. H. G. Wells died in 1946.

Foolscap 4to 8½" x 6¾" [21.5cm x 17.1cm] approx. 237 pp and chronology. Quarter bound red spine over pale grey boards. Pristine text block with tight binding. 30 monochrome illustrations on good quality stock. Unclipped dust wrapper with artwork by Jim Burns. Some wear at the spine ends and along the edges but perks up immeasurably in mylar. Condition is very good minus. Book is just about fine. Edited by G. P. Wells, this book is a collection of essays and reminiscences by the author about his relationships with women. The essays are arranged in chronological order and cover a period of more than fifty years. Wells discusses his courtship of Olga Khokhlova, his marriages to Katherine Mansfield and Odette DeWitt, and his relationship with Soviet author Anna Akhmatova. The book also includes a postscript by Wells in which he reflects on his life and career. The dust jacket will be protected with a new protective mylar sleeve which is removable.
