Nicholas Barker, one of the authors of "Red Ice," commanded the British Navy's ice patrol ship, Endurance, before and during the Falklands War with Argentina. He is perhaps best known for his repeated warnings to the British government of Argentine intentions to invade the Falklands before the actual invasion in 1982, and for his courage and seamanship in eluding enemy war ships until British reinforcements arrived in the South Atlantic. "Red Ice" benefits from Barker's experiences. First Printing, First U.S. Edition. About 5 7/8 x 8 1/2 inches, 250 pages in red paper-covered boards with gold lettering on spine.
