La machine brevetée en 1835, a servi de point de départ soit à M. Thonnelier lui-méme, soit à son cessionnaire M. Boucher de Montuel, qui prit un certificat d'addition à ce premier brevet. Le 13 décembre 1833. Cette machine consiste en un bâti ou banc en fonte, sur lequel est fixée solidement une cage pareille à celle de la machine représentée planches et 2, c'est - à - dire formée de deux montants réunis par le haut et par le bas à l'aide d'une téte et d'une pièce transversale d'une grande résistance. A son autre extrémité, le banc porte deux poupées en fonte assemblées par des entretoises, mais que l'on peut faire avancer ou reculer à l'aide de vis de rappel. On arrête à volonté les poupées au moyen de boulons.
Ces poupées portent un arbre moteur transversal, à chaque extrémité duquel est fixé un volant, que l'on commande soit à bras d'homme, soit à l'aide d'une puissance quelconque; et en outre un manchon à griffe sert à désembrayer à volonté, afin de permettre à l'arbre de tourner conti nuellement, sans que, pour cela, la machine marche.
