Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is a dramatic verse play echoing Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's Faust Part One. Faust, an academic who has achieved great heights in the realm of knowledge and teaching, is dissatisfied with his life and enters a pact with Mephistopheles, the Devil. The pages that follow depict Faust's journey into a world of love, indulgence, and ultimately redemption. His relentless pursuit of experience leads him through enchanted forests, onto battlefields, into witches' kitchens, and the dark underworld. Through it all, Mephistopheles acts as a cynical commentator, challenging Faust's motives and tempting him to abandon his quest for enlightenment. A masterpiece of Gothic Romanticism, this book explores the endless struggle between good and evil, knowledge and ignorance, and the limits of human nature.
