In the selection of writers an effort has been made to select qualified men, who are at the same time representative of the reverent and Bible-loving spirit of our people. Consequently large liberty of interpretation has been allowed the various writers, though at times it may be deemed necessary to indicate that other views prevail.
The most critical examination is invited, though a wide spread usefulness is coveted.
