Demy 8vo (221x 142mm) approx. 219 pp. Mid blue cloth boards with gilt titles to the spine. Hint of wear at the spine ends; corners are sharp and binding tight. Stunning colour endpapers by Ardizzone as well as colour frontispiece, red vignette to the title page and a further 11 colour plates in the text. There are numerous other line drawings in the text. There is a mark to the underside of the text block and a hint of wear to the flaps along 3 of the edges. No other wear. Near fine. Don Quixote has become so entranced by reading chivalric romances, that he determines to become a knight-errant himself. In the company of his faithful squire, Sancho Panza, his exploits blossom in all sorts of wonderful ways. While Quixote's fancy often leads him astray, Sancho acquires cunning and a certain sagacity.
