Book Description Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. A lovely and unique copy which is signed by famous cinematographer and film director, Jack Cardiff, to his third wife (the book was acquired from his private collection some years ago through his family members, see other listings.) The inscription reads: "To my Niki, Combray for dreams, but you an exquisite reality, all my love, Jack" Niki O'Donahue was his third wife and also a film script consultant. Combray is the imagined village in Proust's famous novel A la Recherche du Temps Perdu. What a fabulous thing to say to one's lover and I wish I'd thought of it! On the whole the book is in clean, bright condition with fresh looking marbled paper covered boards and cloth spine. The title lettering on the spine is still nice and crisp. Slightly knocked and a little worn at the fore edge corner tips. Internally the pages are clean and bright, although there are a couple of pen marks on the bottom page block edge and a smudge a the very bottom corner tip. The dust jacket is pretty bright and not sun faded, although price clipped and edge worn and scuffed here and there. The inscription though makes this a wonderful collector's item for any movie fans.
