Offering teachers a means of implementing a handwriting policy throughout the primary school, from the initial scribbles of young children to a fast, fluent and legible hand, this resource recognizes the fact that the basic technique of handwriting is something which must be taught progressively, not just "caught". It is in a photocopiable form, so that teachers can prepare as many copies as required for a class or as many copies of a particular page as are wanted for children needing extra practice. The book is made up of teacher's notes, a pre-writing section to guide the scribbles of young hands into meaningful patterns related to letter formation, and then pupils' material at Levels 1 to 7 which equates roughly not only to primary schooling, but also to Attainment Target 5 of the National Curriculum. Children are taught from route-finding letters with exits and entrances right from the start, and joining is introduced as early as Level 3, as recommended by the National Curriculum. By Levels 6 and 7 there is more emphasis on presentation.
