Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was born in Edinburgh in 1859. He studied medicine at Edinburgh University where the methods of diagnosis taught inspired the idea for Sherlock Holmes' methods of deduction. He began writing while he waited for his practice to grow, his greatest literary creations being Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson. He died in 1930.Review:
