About the Author:
EVELYN WAUGH was born in 1903 and read Modern History at Oxford. He taught, travelled extensively and wrote successful novels, beginning with DECLINE AND FALL, and in 1930 was received into the Catholic Church. 1945 he published BRIDESHEAD REVISITEDand in 1952 won the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for MEN AT ARMS, the first volume of his acclaimed SWORD OF HONOUR trilogy. He died in 1966.
