About the Author:
CHARLES KINGSLEY, 1819-75, was educated at Magdalene College, Cambridge. He became curate, and subsequently rector, of Eversley in Hampshire. Kingsley was particularly involved in the social reform movements, and Christian Socialism. Branded as a radical Kingsley worked outside the mainstream of society until his patriotic stance on the Crimean War brought him royal favour.
Synopsis:
