J MEADE FALKNER (1858-1932) was the son of a clergyman. Educated at Oxford, he became a tutor to the children of Sir Andrew Noble. He was also an antiquarian and became honorary librarian to the dean and chapter of Durham Cathedral. He published three novels, THE LOST STRADIVARIUS, MOONFLEET and THE NEBULY COAT, and a volume of poetry was published in 1933.
