About the Author:
ROBERT BROWNING was born in 1812 in London and began writing poetry when he was 21. PARACLESUS, 1835, was his first success, but his career suffered for many years after SORDELLO and was revived after the publication of THE RING AND THE BOOK. In 1846 he married Elizabeth Barrett and they eloped to Italy. He returned to Britain after her death, and died in 1889.
