When the evil Claude Frollo decides to abduct the gypsy dancer La Esmeralda, he employs Quasimodo, a hideous hunchback, to do the job. The plan goes wrong and Esmeralda is charged with the murder of Phoebus, the man she loves. Quasimodo then snatches Esmeralda and takes her to a sanctuary.
