Aline becomes companion to a wealthy disabled girl, Orielle, and falls in love with her brother Orlando. Aline begins to have nightmares, frequently sensing a woman in her room whispering taunts, but no one is ever there. One night she follows the voice to the ruined north wing of the house, the scene of the fire that killed Orielle and Orlando's parents.
