Sam and Seb discover a coat with a silver lining - in fact it is lined with a thousand pounds. The family business never runs as smoothly as it might. Money is always a problem in their family, whether it is the lack of it or knowing what to do with it when you find it.

In this typically British romp, nothing of grave import happens, yet each small twist of fate is amusing, and the characters are a host of off-beat rarities. Set in Edinburgh, the story is narrated in varying levels of a Scottish brogue, most prominent in the grandparents. Karpf maintains a lively tone throughout as main characters Sebastian and Samantha alternately narrate the chapters. They leave the listener sure that another disaster is just around the bend, in the family resale shop, in the continually resurrecting romance of their divorced parents, or in the extended family of quirky relatives. Nine to twelve-year-olds will appreciate this light and satisfying recording. T.B. (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine
